Common Mistakes People Make When Trying To Get More Insta Followers
August 29, 2018
Most people on Instagram want followers. While there are many people using Instagram daily, following someone means that the person likes them and they will bring some value to a follower’s life. If that is not the case, then people won’t follow. If you are looking at how to get a lot of followers on Instagram, then you may be creating a strategic plan of action.
Here are some of the common mistakes people make when trying to build a following on Instagram.
1. Trying to get too big too fast
Keeping a perspective can be hard when there is so much literature out there talking about getting a million followers. If you are looking to build a strong following, it will take time. You need to build your skills, content, and trust first. Once you get your core groups of people, you can worry about expanding.
2. Following and expecting follows in return
Do not follow people with the sole expectation that others will follow you in return. You an follow people because you like what they are doing or you appreciate their work, but to follow someone just for the off chance they will follow you back may backfire.
Many people will also unfollow someone because they didn’t follow them back. This is problematic because people will see this and unfollow you. It can anger a lot of people on Instagram and get you a bad reputation.
3. Asking for followers
Another great piece of advice is not to beg for followers. Desperation looks bad. You need people to see your work and decide for themselves if they value it or not. If someone follows you out of pity, they will probably not interact with your posts and therefore don’t add much to your page.
4. Don’t be fake
Probably the most important mistake people make is being what they think others would want them to be. People will pick up quickly if you don’t know what you’re talking about or if you aren’t being genuine. Now that doesn’t mean buying Instagram followers to get some recognition is bad. Followers that you buy can be real. The point here is that if you don’t have a passion for something your pictures and posts will suffer.
You typically work better and are much more active when discussing things you love. For instance, if I had to write about plumbing supplies I probably wouldn’t do a very good job. Even if I am writing and you cannot see my face, you would be able to tell through my wording that I am being cold or uninterested in the topic. However, writing about something I love, like Instagram, brings out my better writing skills. When you want to do it, you will.
Instagram can be about business, but it was originally designed for people to share what they love. My best advice would be to focus your feed on what you love and avoid some of these mistakes. The rest will fall into place.
